Brock's First Cake

I made Brock's first cake. It was so much work but it was also so much fun to do. The picture is very forgiving of my mistakes. More pictures to come from his party...

Look who's 1 years old

Today (July 23rd), my sweet baby boy turned one. This past year has really gone by so fast. I am grateful for my family; they really mean everything to me. Brock is about 28 lbs and 33 inches (at least that's what he measured at his last visit a few months back). We will go and see his Pediatrician, Dr. Joe, next week to get his updated measurements. We took him to go get some pictures taken a few days ago. Of course I am biased, but I just melt when he smiles. I can't believe how grown up he looks in these pictures. We are planning a big celebration at my mother's home and pool, along with family and friends.

O.C. Fair Trifecta

I usually look forward to my lazy days of summer but this week we have been quite busy. Scott got my mom & I tickets to see the Pageant of the Masters in Laguna Beach. We sat in the wheelchair section which is 8 rows from the front and it was such a great evening. It was a little chilly, so I ended up renting a blanket. Grandma Epi got her card filled this week with all the many times we asked her to watch Brock. Thursday, we headed over to the O.C. Fair to see Joan Jett and The Blackhearts. This old school punk rock girl could still put on a rocking show. On Friday, we went back for round two at the Fair to walk around a bit and to attend the Tears For Fears concert. Oh, how all of the alternative music reminded me of high school! Some of the strange food we tried at this year's fair included chocolate covered bacon and a chicken sandwich. Not just any chicken sandwich, but two Krispy Kreme jelly-filled donuts with a grilled piece of chicken in the middle -- sort of like a monte cristo sandwich. I know it may sound gross to most, but the bite I took tasted surprisingly good. Today, we ended the trifecta fair experience by taking Brock with us. Scott & Steve watched the Lucha Libre Wrestling (my neighbor Martin was the MC of the event), while Crystal and I walked around with Brock. I took Brock on his first pony ride and he simply loved it. I couldn't resist buying the photo below. We enjoyed looking at all the animals and watching the the Peking Acrobats. Brock, as anticipated, fell asleep, and we soon left for home.

Welcome baby Sadie

Richard & Julie's new family picture
Blake (5) Sadie (1 week) Logan (3)

The 4th of July was extra special this year as we welcomed our new niece to our family. Julie and Richard are proud parents to baby girl Sadie Elaine. She was so little according to my standards weighing in at 7 pounds and 7 ounces and 19 1/2 inches long. She has a full head of hair and is just adorable. It was so fun to hold a little baby again. We went for a quick visit the following day just as they had gotten home from the hospital. Richard is on maternity leave till the end of next month so we plan to have lots of cousin outings to let mom and baby get rest. Sadie is my moms 10th grandchild and the 2nd girl.
